How to get there
There are several options for travel to Kathmandu. Contact our office for details of the special airfares to suit your travel plans.
Climate
Sea breezes keep the air and water temperatures in the Maldives fairly constant year round. The calmest seas and sunniest skies occur in the high season, from December to April. Two mild monsoon seasons occur in December-March and May-October.
Northern India (Rajasthan) also experiences monsoon seasons in July-September and January-March, which is also the cold season. The post-monsoon period from October to December averages low temperatures of about 18-20 degrees and highs of about 33-38 degrees.
Nepal's Himalayan alpine climate varies according to the elevation. It gets colder as the elevation increases and gets wetter as the elevation drops. The two major seasons of the Himalayan region are winter and summer. During the winter the region receives the maximum snow with very cold temperatures. Summers are generally mild but can be rainy.
Currency
The Maldives' currency is the rufiyaa. One Canadian dollar is worth approximately 9 rufiyaa. Nepal's currency is the Nepalese rupee. One Canadian dollar is approximately 57 Nepalese rupees. The currency of India is the Indian rupee. One Canadian dollar is approximately 35 Indian rupees.
Language
The language of Nepal is Nepalese or Nepali. The language of the Maldives is Dhivehi. English is also widely understood and used. India's main languages are Hindi and English. All tours are accompanied by English-speaking guides.
Health
No special inoculations are required.
Visas
Visas are required for Canadian and US citizens. These can be arranged through our office.
